BLOK

Our intention is to create an o​pen source product/design out of the piles of textile waste, without creating new waste (through cutting and discarding), which implies using the clothes as a whole. We aim to create a multifunctional object that the user can adapt to their needs. These guidelines lead us to the idea of ‘building blocks’.

Process

- Sorting out clothes per shape, stiffness, texture, colour
- Experimenting with folding and wrapping techniques
- Playing with the different combinations
- Building/assembling/stacking the blocks to explore the possible functions
- Circularity, if the object isn’t relevant anymore, the block can be deconstructed and the clothes can find a new purpose
